filter<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Current limitation<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I still need a system capable of flocculating or settling very muddy water before filtration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When the water contains a large amount of suspended particles, the Katadyn filter clogs after only a few pump strokes, making it almost unusable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On a future trip, I will need a settling or flocculation solution to protect the filter and make filtration much easier.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This became a serious problem in Ghana, where I eventually had to Everything depends on three factors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The duration of the trip.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The total distance to be covered.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The countries or continents you intend to cross.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A 15,000 km or 20,000 km journey through Europe does not require the same preparation as a round-the-world trip or several years spent riding the tracks of Africa, Central Asia or South America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, if you set off on a perfectly serviced motorcycle fitted with brand-new bearings for a 20,000 km trip, there is probably no point in carrying spare wheel or swingarm bearings.
