Africans call her ‘MAMIE MOTO’ (Granny on a Motorbike) , or the itinerary of a ‘young’ motorcyclist of (answer lower) years on the African tracks….
THE traveller to watch at the moment… my name is… Doris Lacombe.
At the age of 67, she walked alone up the Senegal River to Guinea. 1700 km on foot! The result is a fascinating book: the mysteries of the Thiopédji.
A few months ago, on her little 125, she travelled from Dakar to Abidjan (and even as far as Benin).
Over the next few months, she’ll be riding all the way back to France, still on her little 125cc bike.
She is ….. 82 years old and even has a Polarstep to keep track of her: https://www.polarsteps.com/DorisLacombe
Hats off to you, Doris. And as a friend of mine who’s been a very, very big adventurer for 20 years has just told me… You have my utmost respect!
