This time, we’re heading to Turkmenistan, often nicknamed the “North Korea of Central Asia.”
A country unlike any other: vast, desert-covered and extremely closed off, with a highly authoritarian regime, a capital filled with white marble buildings, and a pretty astonishing cult of personality.
And naturally, when you travel through a country like this, crossing the border can become quite… an experience.
So here are a few stories from my time in Turkmenistan.
